An Aboriginal man died in an auto accident in the northern Queensland city of Bunbury while using a nimbin car park to retrieve a large amount of groceries from an address he thought was being abused by locals, police said Monday.

“There was a great deal of activity around the scene and a man who did know him (the apronxdriver) had been called there by the man who had just gotten out of the car and who, in turn, was reporting a disturbance,” Jones said.

“It just goes to show, there are good, good people out there. There is no place in town for such activities.”

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence but was released without charge, Jones said.

An Aboriginal man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and the man’s girlfriend was treated on a stretcher and treated at a hospital after being hit by debris.
