Neighbor Chris Garcia said he woke up this morning to smoke and then seeing flames.

“The next thing you knew, my neighbor was on the couch, a firefighter was on the couch, a firefighter was on the next to the fire, my window was broken,” he said.

Garcia said no one was hurt, but about 40 units were put out of action.

“We’re really sad about it and are going to be here in the morninggospelhitz,” Garcia said.

Fire officials said that about 10 firefighters responded at 9:15 p.m. and the fire was out by the time they arrived.

Garcia called the fire suspicious due to the smell of gasoline.

“I’m just thinking they’re setting a campfire. I mean, you see a big campfire going into this neighborhood, like the way they’re setting it’s a little suspicious because there’s nothing that I really know about the building. I mean, it’s not what I thought I’d see and it’s pretty hard to imagine a house being burned so badly, especially with all the smoke you just smell,” he said.

Fire officials urged the public to stay off the property and stay away from the front door.

Firefighters and firefighters have been at the scene for several hours. As of 10:30 p.m., crews had completely cleared the buildings.
